Hiding Mr. Feathers, Mom Problems #11082017
So, how did you spend your Hump Day?
Well, this mama spent the wee minutes before her kiddos' bedtimes, being dictated to by a 6-year-old. Desperate to complete a last minute homework objective that was a last minute surprise, I mistakenly showed Miss Dictator, ehhh, Miss Mya, Pinterest examples of how to hide her beautifully colored turkey. Of course, Miss Mya would insist on the photo nearest and dearest to her spirit food, popcorn. She would insist we hide Mr. Feathers in popcorn.
“This won’t be too hard,” her silly Mama thought...
The first encountered dilemma was how to get all the popcorn from falling directly to the floor. My hair-brained idea? To form a container fitting for our feathered friend from tonight’s $2 Happy Meal Deal (Ronald would be so proud.) Mya contributed the marker and scissor art. Like a true artist, she is always a critic. At the very end, AFTER being covered in the popcorn, the box HAD TO HAVE some blue.
The next dilemma in what had become another family project, was how exactly to get the popcorn to stay attached. Popcorn is so lightweight and craft glue wasn't cutting it. Honestly, Elmer’s was a joke for this project. She had it everywhere and I'd bet we had one kernel sort of staying, for every 10-20 she tried to glue. Hot glue was honestly the only solution. Since child safety would be an issue, Mama took over as always. She is used to having a few less fingertips.
...Insert silent cursing...and popcorn eating. Hopefully, no added Elmer's glue surprises on those snacks!

The outcome? Well, about $3 in hot glue and 90 minutes less of Mama’s sanity, we finally had a fully hidden Mr. Feathers. Only his peepers remained in sight. It kind of seemed silly she colored the rest so carefully, but Mya Picasso would have had it no other way. Hopefully, Mr. Feathers doesn’t have nightmares of Mya trying to eat him. Thanksgiving dinner might have been a better option for him. (*giggle*)
