Emoji & Gamer Valentines

Yearly Valentine's Day boxes have become a tradition in our house. Every year, I am tasked with the project of bringing their grand illusions into paper mache reality. This year was no different!

Emojis are huge in our home. We love them for everything. Mya's request was an emoji heart character with a cell phone (*giggle*.) Max's vision was very focused--a gamer controller in every spare minute, so it might as well be his Valentine's box idea, too.

The game controller was made on a large Nike shoe box--a staple in our home. The buttons made from polymer clay and the graphics printed from an online search. The emoji phone was similar, yet featured some of Mya's artisitic handiwork as well. While the emoji base needed to be made from cardboard, both boxes were covered in paper mache for strength and then, ennnnnnddddddlllleeessss rows of cut streamers.
